At Chimney Sweep Systems, Inc. ensuring the safety of your home is our first priority. Regular chimney inspections, cleaning, and maintenance can significantly reduce the severity of a flue fire should it occur. For almost 36 years the CSIA Certified team has been providing our customers with professional, courteous dust-free chimney cleaning.

HIGHLY RECOMMENDED YEARLY INSPECTION
Just in case you didn’t know, the National Fire Protection Association recommends every property owner to do an annual fireplace and chimney inspection to avoid unnecessary complications. Our team can make sure your ventilation choices properly match your appliances, and of course that everything is clean and in good condition. All vented heating appliances should be checked for safety at least once a year.

A Level I inspection is the most basic level of inspection while Level II &
Level III inspections are progressively more detailed and comprehensive.

 * The Chimney inspection procedures define the required elements of an inspection. The inspection procedure is divided into three categories, or levels. The circumstances that give rise to the inspection are to be conducted.
A Level I inspection is the most basic level of inspection while Level II &
Level III inspections are progressively more detailed and comprehensive.

LEVEL I – Readily Accessible
1. Routine or annual evaluations of the venting system(s).
2. An Appliance connected to the system is being replaced with a similar appliance.
3. During Annual Sweeping

LEVEL II – Accessible
As certified chimney sweeps, we’re able to provide any of all three levels of chimney inspections:
Level 1: A general inspection, mostly carried out annually or when your chimney is swept.
Level 2: A more detailed inspection for system changes such as new appliances, fuels, or during a real estate transaction.
Level 3: The most intensive inspection, performed when level 1 or 2 may suggest serious hazards.

A level II inspection is more detailed and thorough than a Level I Inspection and is the
recommended inspection when conditions of use for the appliance or venting system are changing, or when a Level I Inspection reveals the need for a more detailed inspection. If you find there has been an operating malfunction, damaged or deteriorated liners or unused opening into the chimney it is appropriated to recommend a Level II Inspection.

Other instances where a Level II Inspection is specifically recommended include:

1. Replacement of an appliance with one of dissimilar type, input rating or efficiency.
2. Prior to relining a flue.
3. Upon sale or transfer of property.
4. After an event likely to have caused damage to the chimney, such as a chimney fire, operating malfunction or other sudden occurrence event.

LEVEL III – Concealed

A Level III Inspection is the most detailed of all of the inspection types and includes inspection of concealed areas of the building. However, examination of concealed areas should be limited to areas reasonably suspected of containing hazards that cannot be evaluated otherwise.

A Level III Inspection includes all areas covered in a Level I and Level II Inspection, and inspection of concealed areas to investigate known or suspected problems. In as much as certain portions of a Level III Inspection require destructive action to the building, the inspector needs to address these concerns and seek permission. Additionally, it should be determined up-front who is responsible for repair or replacement of removed components of the building.
